Twelve Weeks at Microsoft Azure

A collage of Microsoft internship experiences, including the team, hikes, and intern events.

My twelve-week internship at Microsoft has come to an end, and I’m leaving with new technical skills, meaningful relationships, and a lot of good memories.

I worked with Azure’s Capacity Infrastructure Team on an internal products and services list buildout tool used by more than 2,000 people. Using TypeScript, React, and C#, I developed features that improved verification checks and the user experience.

After finishing my initial tasks early, I took on accessibility improvements using Microsoft Accessibility Insights. I also conducted a data engineering gap analysis in KQL and contributed to the design of a microservice for tracking product availability across Azure regions.

One lesson I’m taking away is the value of looking beyond the initial task list. Finding another way to improve the tool gave me the opportunity to take ownership and learn about a different part of building software.

The people and experiences outside my project mattered just as much. I found support through the Intern Mentorship, Women’s ERG Mentorship, and Intern Cohort programs. Over the summer, I attended 28 in-person events, including speaker sessions, fundraisers, hikes, and facility tours.

I also founded an Intern Golf Co-Creation club with support from the Microsoft Intern Program—a fun way to bring people together outside of work.

Thank you to my team, mentors, and fellow interns for making this such a memorable summer.
